It is hilarious to see you move from a pretty good historical and military analysis (once you strip all the religious non sense of course) to the most irrational and utopic call I have seen so far in this war. Why would either the Israeli or the Palestinian convert to Catholicism? That makes even less sense than a two states solution. Not to mention that Catholics countries have fought each others over and over again since the creation of this work of fiction people call the bible. So let me propose an alternative conclusion to your analysis. Yes, throughout history mankind has behave like animals (because it is one). Religious, nationalist identities are barely just another reason to fight each other. And not only human has been an unfettered predator on its fellow humans, it is also the most destructive parasite the planet has ever witnessed. In this context, saving humans should be the least of our priority. Au contraire, we should embrace this post humanist era the Israelis are trail blazing for us, an era where humans causalities will not only be accepted but celebrated. The more humans to die the better off the planet and the millions of species that inhabit it will be. The levant is a great analogy for the broader world in that it is a highly overpopulated region, and this overpopulation is now so great that for one group to hope to survive it must annihilate the other. The sooner the rest of the world catch up to this realisation, the sooner we will cull each others with the hope that we will still be around once the clean up is over. of course, me I hope we manage to wipe out the entire species once and for all, and hopefully before we go on parasiting other planets. #SaveThePlanetKillHumans

Most normal French atheist take.

Actually French have their own state-led religion called laicity. And part of this religion is the principle that a French life (and life style) is sacred and must be protected at all cost. Whereas I think we should start the cull with the French!!!!

When I said in this piece that materialism can get you to nihilism, or scientific racism, or hedonism, I did not expect you to demonstrate all three in one sentence. Thank you for showing any sane reader why I went from atheism to Christianity.

Re nihilism I couldn't agree more! I am nihilist and proud of it. But I am neither racist (i am equal opportunity asshole, I want all humans to be culled regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion...) nor hedonist (I only wishes pain and misery on every human, because that's all we deserve as a species).

You say you're atheist, and then hasten to assure us that you aren't racist. Why would an atheist care? An atheist behaves like Josef Stalin, not like a Presbyterian schoolmarm.

If you are an atheist you are a remarkably confused one. By your last name I assume you're just another ethnic narcissist masquerading behind faux ideology.

A great piece Sir.

There seems to be a great ideological-philosophical burden upon our shoulders in our civilizational winter. Our social ethics are hijacked and confused under a thousand pretenses. Even that word "ethical" stands insipid in comparison to 'righteousness', or even 'right'.

I think now more than ever we need a return to the monumental - a teleological suspension of the measly ethical.

I think it only a matter of time before war and pestilence march upon our own lands. And we will have to rediscover the old ways, and the old faith.

Saludos

Thank you very much!

We need to be more Christian. In every sense of the word.
