Excellent analysis. Thought-provoking and insightful. I'd only add that Russia very well understands all of this, which is why it's moving slowly on the battlefield in Ukraine. Moscow actually wants this war to drag on for years because with each passing day the NATO countries sink deeper into economic crisis. Meanwhile, Russia is doing quite well economically. Western leaders seem to have forgotten that Russia is the largest nation on earth and has all resources in great abundance. And in worse case, Russians have a high tolerance level to pain and hardship, and they can easily endure through any crisis.

Thanks John! I find what you say credible, and I also find it credible that Putin would rather he ends this with minimal risks, and in a shorter timeframe. I lean towards your point of view but I do not discount the second one entirely. So far, the longer this conflict has continued, the more it has favoured Russia. That much seems obvious to me.

Excellent analysis of the world situation.

Do you think we are at the end of what we define as Liberalism?

Thank you

Thank you for your kindness.

I think neoliberalism or economic libertarianism are over. The West needs an industrial policy to match that of China and Russia and to get out of the current crises. You can see that the EU/neoliberal types are all out of ideas - just watch the Conservatives' leadership debates. The alternative has not emerged yet though, and typically, the old ideology is pronounced dead only when the new one asserts itself.
